A Radical Queer Femme Social Club in Asheville
Femme Lodge is a social club that seeks to create a visible presence of femme identified folks in the Asheville LGBTQQI+ community. Hard femme, trans femme, non-binary femme, high femme, soft femme, femme fag… If you identify as femme through a queer lens we want you! The primary purpose of the group is to promote a safe space where femmes can meet to make friends, share their unique femme experiences and start a dialogue about what it means to be femme in Asheville. Think of white, privileged old men smoking cigars and watching stag films when you hear “lodge”? Well we’re reclaiming that word, breaking down the exclusivity, misogyny and multiplicity of
prejudices and building a fabulous, inclusive and queer hangout. Femme Lodge makes room to respect and love our femme diversity!
Femme Lodge is into supporting queer business so we’ll start with a meet and greet at O.Henry’s on Friday, July 24th at 8:30p. We recognize that a bar might not be the most comfortable place for some so we plan to include coffee klatches, day hikes, hot springs soaks and whatever other fun plans you might contribute. Femme Lodge wants your feedback! Please RSVP so we know which sweet faces to expect. And let us know if you have any mobility requests or want more information on the meeting location.
(My dear friend Chloe is the mastermind who is starting this group- please let us know if you have questions and we hope to see you there! If you've gotten this invite and you don't identify as femme or queer, please know we're trying to get the word out, and we hope to do that with the help of our queer community, so invite your friends!)
